What's Wrong with our Water Supply?

Water contamination ranges from agricultural run off, to the improper use of household chemicals.  Society's standard use of more than 75,000 chemical compounds has provided added convenience and productivity to our lives.  However, these conveniences come at a price in the form of huge increases in degenerative diseases.  In the early 1900's, before chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and tens of thousands of other chemicals, the average person had a 1 in 50 chance of developing caner.  Today those chances are 1 in 3 people.

The EPA estimates 98% of all homes have pipes, fixtures, or solder joints which contribute to some amounts of lead in the tap water.  Nearly every household with indoor plumbing has some level of lead, and most homes have an added risk of chlorine treatment.  By the time water reaches our homes it has a significant level of chemical contamination.  These contaminants are completely preventable.  By taking a few simple steps, we can virtually eliminate any harmful effects, beginning with Point of Use Filtration.

Water Treatment Alternatives?

Most advanced water filtration systems take "everything" out and leave behind "dead, sub-purified water".

Examples:

• Carafe Style Filters - Slow, ineffective, low-capacity systems.  Usage must be tracked to assure any effectiveness.  Approx.:  .20 per gallon.
• Distillation - Very slow process which requires energy and regular maintenance.  Some contaminants may be vaporized into the distilled product.  Approx.:  .40 per gallon.
• Reverse Osmosis - Requires high water pressure and storage tanks and must be used with a prefilter to keep the inner-workings clean.  4-10 gallons yield 1 gallon of useable water.  Approx.:  .18-.24 per gallon.

         Note:

• Reverse Osmosis systems yield acidic water.

Bottled Water is "OK".... Right?

WRONG!  Bottled water has no assurance or requirements to be higher quality than tap water!  According to some studies, bottled water is often lower quality.  In fact, the FDA's standards for bottled water do not meet the ELPA's standards for city water.  The reality is, people pay from $2 to $4 a gallon for the perception of pure, clean water, when in fact, the quality of bottled water is at best, unknown!

So.......... what is the answer?
