Chelated Minerals
All Chelates are not created Equal

There are lots of "wanna be" chelates on the market nowadays, that are actually not true chelates.  The true definition fo a chelate: one bond ionic, one bond covalent, molecular weight less than 1500 daltons, by products of the chelation process removed, etc etc. like Dynamite's. In Dynamite's animal products about a third of each mineral is presented as a chelate, the other 2/3 might be a sulfate or a carbonate. No oxides, which are basically totally indigestible. This is because straight chelated minerals only, are "too hot" especially for horses, and cattle and other animals too, who can actually use the inorganic or "dirt" forms to a much greater degree than humans can. Remember in nature in a free grazing situation they will seek out natural clays, dirt and salt deposits, as well as grazing. Humans must have minerals as chelates, we are not equipped to eat dirt! Remember the key here is, true chelates like Dynamite's are minerals in the form in which they would be present in properly mineralized forages (plants), which IS the "natural" way they would get minerals. But, we all know hays and grains are totally demineralized in this day and age, the farmers simply don't add them back into the soil. Which is why Dynamite products exist in the first place.
Pat Coleby's book is one simply to keep up on what is out there, and she makes some good points about the importance of minerals. But I personally find her emphasis on only this or that mineral pretty scary, the key as always is balance. And properly chelated minerals will not cause liver problems, as they are easily flushed by the body if there is an excess.
Dynamite has 75+ years family experience in the feed business, money back guarantees, etc. People who have never fed mineral supplements often do see improvements when they finally do add in minerals of any kind, but Dynamite has refined mineral nutrition to an art form, in my opinion. Dynamite results speak for themselves!
